Devastating floods have caused massive dislocation of people and disruption of health services in vast areas across Pakistan. Province of Sindh has seen the worst consequences of floods this year and despite the efforts made by government and several hospitals and NGOs, there remain significant gaps in providing essential health services to the people. Although several medical camps are being planned by different groups, it is impossible for current doctors and other health providers to physically reach all the communities and provide essential services to the people.

In this situation, Telemedicine technology can be used to address the gap in access to health care by providing online consultations and ensuring distribution of medications and supplies to people in need. Telemedicine can ensure that the doctors can reach many locations and communities without leaving their offices physically. They can see large number of patients online and triage them for hospitalization and other services. Telemedicine devices can ensure proper patient examination and monitoring of vital signs before diagnosis and treatment is offered. These recommendations were made by a number of Health and Technology experts gathered at the Seminar organized by Tech4Life Enterprises on Nov 18, 2022 at Marriott Hotel, Karachi. Seminar was attended by participants from Government of Sindh and large NGOs and Private Hospitals from the province of Sindh. Dr. Azra Pechuho, Minister of Health, Government of Sindh, was the Chief Guest at the event. Panelists at the seminar included experts from Ministry of Health, top hospitals and NGOs in the province, eHealth Association of Pakistan and Tech4Life Enterprises.
