Health Partners International Canada (HPIC) and Tech4Life Enterprises Canada Inc. have partnered together to start a telemedicine project in an urban slum in Nairobi, Kenya. This pilot project is a part of HPIC’s larger commitment to tackle Chronic Diseases in the developing world. The project is using Sojro mobile-telemedicine Kits and MDConsults, which is a cloud-based telemedicine platform that can connects community-based health wordkers to physicians for health monitoring and immediate consultations.

The project aims to empower community health workers to assess patients right from their own homes. This will reduce travel costs, tackle prevention, and even bring healthcare to those who might otherwise never see a medical professional in their lives. We will be using MDConsults with our customized Sojro backpacks – an all-in-one telemedicine kit – so that while community health care workers are examining the patients, a doctor can be providing a diagnosis remotely.
